Building Department

The Building Department is committed to Shenandoah's bright future, assuring all new homes and buildings meet standards set forth to provide a safe environment for living, shopping, and business. It is our goal to serve this community with sincerity and due diligence.

The following information will assist you with most common submittals and/or questions.

We have tried to include all information that may apply to your situation, but this list may not be complete. The 2006 Editions of the IBC, IRC, IMC, IECC, IPC codes by the International Code Council and the 2008 National Electrical Code are standard. The codes adopted by the City of Shenandoah serve as a minimum standard and there may be a stricter standard found in our Code of Ordinances. The Code of Ordinances is available in its entirety at a link on the home page.

Inspection Rules and Regulations

Emergency Inspections

The City of Shenandoah does not typically do same day inspections. However, in the case of an emergency (ie., non-functioning water, sewer or a lack of power), we will do our best to accommodate the inspection request. Business hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. If the emergency occurs after business hours, please email a detailed request to our permit hotline at permits@shenandoahtx.com
. You can call the City staff at 281-298-5522 if you have any questions.
